Using electromagnetic radiation, a telescope allows us to view an object from a far distance. During the 17th century the Netherlands designed the first known functional telescopes. The well known Giovanni Demisiani had first popularized the word telescope in 1611.
This maritime telescope is designed for display. It does have a 32x magnification under certain conditions. It has a tripod that can extend to about 60" high. The scope is removable from the stand. The scope is approximately 38" long. The lens cap is attached by a decorative chain. Although this item does function, it is not a high quality telescope.
